Catch Wrestling Heritage

2023 marked a tremendous opportunity as the National Lottery Heritage Fund generously provided us with financial support through our voluntary club, Aspull Olympic Wrestling Club. This vital funding enabled us to take important steps towards preserving our rich heritage, including the digitisation of historic documents. By doing this, we can now share these invaluable resources with a much wider audience through online platforms, ensuring that the legacy of our sport and community reaches people beyond our local area.

These historic documents offer a precious glimpse into the memories and achievements that have shaped the identity of our wrestling club over the years. They capture key moments, showcasing the evolution of our sport and its deep-rooted connection to the local area.

We have also had the privilege of working closely with Wigan & Leigh Archives, who have been instrumental in their tremendous support of our heritage project. Their expertise and collaboration have been invaluable, and we are thrilled that they have kindly agreed to provide a dedicated digital platform for us to showcase even more material. This partnership not only preserves our past but also ensures it remains accessible to future generations.
